Golf Course update

Warm days ahead will really start to get everyone excited about the 2009 golf season. I have been walking the golf course daily and everything is coming out of winter in fine shape. The deciding factor on opening the golf course is always based on the frost in the ground. This year I have heard there is 5 feet of frost in the ground. I have been using a soil probe to check the frost depth and as of yesterday the green were still frozen and most of the other areas had considerable frost in the ground. There were a few spots with the frost out of the ground but very limited. As soon as the soil is free from the frost I will be rolling and mowing the turf. Once the golf course has been mowed and roll at least one time we will open the 2009 golf season
