Unofficially we have about 5 inches of snow cover in most areas around the golf course. Timing was right on time for this last snowfall since most of the golf course had very little snow cover last week. The next few days the temperatures will fall, with lows below zero. The snow cover should help protect the crowns of the turf from the extremely cold temperatures ahead. At this time, there is no real ice accumulation on the greens or tees. There is some ice in the low areas on the fairways it is not very thick and should not have any negative affects. The next few weeks we will be watching the temperatures. If the temperatures climb to a point were there will be a snow melt, we will blow the snow off the greens to allow for surface drainage. This should reduce the chances for ice accumulation
Have a great week and try to stay warm
