Update 5/24/14

Looking back at this week we finally were able to wrap up at least one project from last year. The sod on hole 2 has been completed.  There is a noticeable difference in this area now that the drainage is new.  We continue to work away on irrigation work.  The system is 14 years old and has develop a few little problems.  You may  think since we had all the rain and cool temperatures that irrigation is not even needed but over the last few days the ET rates have been very high and we have started to do some hand watering on the greens.

Moss on the putting green seems to be a never ending issue, I do plan on treating for the moss on the green in the next 2 weeks.

Over the next few weeks we will be finally fully staffed this week the college employees started and I also have 2 high school aged employees we are waiting to start full time.  My son will also be working part time this year as he moves out of golf and into Auto Mechanics, he works part time at Zimbrick Honda.  I will miss having him around all the time plus he is a great hand waterer.

This week we will be topdressing the greens and working on finishing up the work on 8, 4,5.  We will also continue to core aerate the fairway mounds and hard spots.  At this time we also will seed into the converted rough areas.

Overall, I am very happy with the status of the golf course right now.  The fescue is really starting to look great and the rest of the course I feel is in fine shape.  I hope that you can enjoy a round or tow over the holiday weekend.
