Update

Another great week of summer weather highs in the upper 80's and 90.  By the looks of it we will most likely break the record for the most days above 90's for a year which currently is 40.

By the end of the week, with the exception a few white tees,  will be aerifed for the first go around.  I will start to core aerate the approaches when we complete the tees.  The approaches will be done the same way one or 2 per day until we finish.  Then we will start the process over again with the tees. With this weather the tees are recovering very quickly, the holes on the first set of tees we did last week are barley noticeable today.  Also, I am sure that you have noticed that the tees are much firmer now.

We are also making good progress on the fairway verticutting. I am verticutting a little bit deeper this time around.  After the fairways have been verticut we need to blow off all the material that is brought up. We spend around 2 hours a hole on average from start to fininsh.  By friday we will only have 5 holes left and will finish by wednesday next week.

Weather premitting I would like to spike the fairways then we complete the verticutting.

This is a great time of the year to fertilize your home lawn to help build a strong plant as well as recovery from this summer.  If you have some bare areas that have not filled in I would suggest that you aerify these spots and incorporate some seed into these areas.  It is highly likely that if you have not seen these areas filled in that they are dead and will not recover.  Leaving bare spots into the late fall will only increase your chances of these areas filling in with weeds in the spring time.  Right now is a great time for desirable grasses to germinate and develop before winter.

The golf course is in great shape, I hope that you will be able to enjoy the course this week.
