update 12/9/13

6 inches of snow here at Hawks Landing last night has pretty much put the brakes of any additional outside work for some time.  The soil has frozen, turf has entered dormancy and just about the right amount of soil moisture before this snow cover.  A complete opposite from last year in that we had saturated soil condition and the soil was not frozen.  I would prefer the have the current conditions over winter.  Now with that being said we did not have any measurable winter damage this year even with the conditions that we had going into winter. Most of the problems that we have had in the past is ice development from a quick snow melt in midwinter.  We addressed many of these areas that were blocking the surface water draining off the green.  The last rain event showed that what we did should really should help with surface drainage.  We still have a few of these areas to level and will continue to do so over time.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing everyone at the Holiday party next week
